Foodies go all Greek at Technopolis from April 12-14

The Technopolis cultural complex in the downtown Athenian neighborhood of Gazi (100 Pireos Street, Kerameikos metro station) will be showcasing authentic Greek products, cooking demonstrations combining tradition with innovation and creativity, and tasting events in “Greece: A Festival of Flavors” from April 12 to 14.

Products ranging from an array of cheeses and cold meats, rustic pasta, spices and herbs, sweets and jams from all over Greece will take center stage, though the focus of the event will be on promoting 100 small-scale producers whose products stand out for their quality. Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to vote on which is their favorite product and the winner will be announced during a special ceremony on April 14.

The exhibition of food products and fresh produce will be augmented by master classes conducted by acclaimed Greek chefs including Lefteris Lazarou, Yiannis Loukakos, Dimitris Skarmoutsos, Aris Tsanaklidis and Christoforos Peskias.

Chefs and cookbook writers will be preparing classic Greek recipes in the “Maestro of Tradition” part of the festival, in which visitors will learn how to make bread, sausages, liqueurs, spoon sweets and cheese.

Foodies will also have the opportunity to try wines, cheeses, beers and cold meats, while chefs from all over Greece will be serving up delicious tidbits in the courtyard area throughout the event.

The festival is organized by the weekly city guide Athinorama under the aegis of the City of Athens.
