No ferries, public transport to be disrupted as unions mark May Day on Wednesday
Greece’s two largest labor unions, GSEE and ADEDY, are hoping for a strong turnout on Wednesday, when a number of professions will go on strike and take part in a rally in central Athens, to mark May Day.
Public transport will be disrupted on Wednesday but unions have said they will try to ease the impact on passengers as much as possible.
Buses and trolley buses are set to run between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., while the metro and electric railway (ISAP) will be running after 9 a.m.
However, there will be no metro to Athens International Airport.

Ferries will remain docked throughout Wednesday as the seamens’ union, PNO, will be taking part in the May Day events.
Public hospitals will be operating with skeleton staff as doctors and nurses are also due to go on strike.
A rally is due to take place in Klafthmonos Square in central Athens from 11 a.m. The event is also expected to be an opportunity for unions to express their opposition to austerity measures.
