No further extensions for submission of tax declarations

Greek taxpayers are not expected to be granted new deadlines for the submission of their income tax declarations, said Haris Theocharis, the Finance Ministry’s general secretary for revenues.

Speaking on a local television station on Wednesday, Theocharis argued that the ministry’s online system for the submission of tax declarations was running smoothly and without technical glitches. According to the ministry the system’s capacity has a capacity of 150,000 tax declarations daily.

A day earlier the general secretary noted that about 30 percent of taxpayers had made their income tax declarations, with figures standing at about 1.8 million out of an expected 6.5 million declarations.

The ministry recently extended the deadline for declaring income to the end of August.
