Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris to run for Athens mayor, reports say
Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris will run for Athens mayor in next year’s municipal elections, the far-right party’s leader has said, according to reports Wednesday.
Speaking during a live online show broadcast by the party, Nikos Michaloliakos reportedly confirmed speculation that Kasidiaris, who is also Golden Dawn’s spokesman, will be a candidate in local elections scheduled for May 2014.
“I have said that, in all probability, you will be [Golden Dawn’s] candidate in Athens,” Michaloliakos was quoted as saying.
“I was told that a newspaper reported that I have blocked [your candidacy]. These allegations are not true,” he added, according to reports.
