Only one of four GD deputies remanded in custody

Only one of four Golden Dawn deputies arrested last week on charges of heading a criminal organization responsible for a range of felonies, including murder, assault, blackmail and money laundering, among others, was remanded in custody on Wednesday, while another three were released pending trial, one of them posting a 50,000 euro bail.

Yiannis Lagos (photo) was expected to be transferred to a local jail on Wednesday following a unanimous decision reached by two investigative magistrates and two prosecutors.

Party spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris was ordered to post a 50,000 euro bail and not to exit the country. Deputies Ilias Panayiotaros and Nikos Michos were also ordered not to leave the country.

According to reports, following the fatal stabbing of 34-year-old rapper Pavlos Fyssas by 45-year-old Golden Dawn member Giorgos Roupakias, the latter contacted his local cell leader Giorgos Patelis, who in turn called the local Golden Dawn MP, Lagos, who then proceeded to contact party chief Nikos Michaloliakos.

The latter was expected to be transferred to court on Wednesday afternoon.
