One in two Greek businesses evading taxes, says SDOE

One in two businesses inspected by the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) in the period from January to June was found to be evading paying taxes, SDOE said in a report on Tuesday.

The Finance Ministry’s force inspected 2,639 businesses across Greece in the six-month period, finding more than 390,000 tax code violations at 1,872 of them, or 54 percent.

SDOE added that it achieved and exceeded its target to inspect 2,295 businesses in that period.
