Driver rescued from flood in Thessaloniki after heavy rain

A man whose car was swept away by a flash flood while he was driving in a rural part of Thessaloniki was rescued from the vehicle and in good health early on Thursday, the Athens-Macedonia News Agency reported.

The vehicle was swept up after heavy rainfall while the driver was trying to cross a creek in the area of Filadelfia.

Meanwhile, heavy rains on Wednesday night and Thursday have led to the Gallikos River overflowing, with authorities preventing cars from circulating in the municipalities of Sindos and Pentalofo.

Problems were also reported on the road between Langada and Iraklio.
