Ex-cleaners hired as secretaries by government

The Justice Ministry issued a statement on Thursday defending the legality of a decision to transfer 28 former Finance Ministry cleaners to secretarial posts in the Greek judicial system.

“The transfers in question… fulfill all the legal prerequisites,” the statement said, adding that all the candidates in question had the required qualifications for their new jobs and that the relocations had been approved by a judicial council.

Nearly 600 Finance Ministry cleaners who were put into a mobility scheme in 2013 by the previous conservative-led coalition were rehired last May by the new SYRIZA-led administration.
