Greece eyes share of anticipated global tourism growth

Greece is hoping to be among the countries that will benefit from the 4 percent rise in global tourism the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) expects in 2016 compared with last year.

This country is among those that have not been targeted by international terrorism, making local travel agents more optimistic that tourism arrivals will set another record this year after that posted in 2015.

Still, it is too early for any safe forecasts regarding the course of the year.

In 2015 Europe topped tourists’ preferences, recording an increase in arrivals of 29 million or 5 percent compared with 2014, according to UNWTO data.
