Rise continues for passenger traffic at Greek airports

Air traffic continued to increase in January, even though the first month of the year traditionally posts a decline.

A total of 1.8 million passengers used Greek airports last month, posting an 11.5 percent increase from the same month last year, according to Civil Aviation Authority figures.

The total number of flights came to 19,890, showing annual growth of 4.5 percent, with international flights increasing 1.8 percent and domestic flights growing 6.1 percent.

Athens Airport users numbered 1.1 million, while 351,000 passengers used Thessaloniki’s Makedonia Airport (pictured).
