Greece shows highest unemployment rate across eurozone in September

Greece showed the highest rate of unemployment in the eurozone with 23.2 percent in September, the European Union’s statistical authority Eurostat reported on Thursday.

The report also noted that the number of people unemployed across the 19-member eurozone area fell by 101,000 from the previous month to reach 16.18 million in September. The eurozone’s unemployment rate stood at 10 percent, unaltered from the previous month, the agency added.

Following Greece, the highest unemployment rate, 19.3 percent, was reported in September in Spain, while Germany had the lowest rate, 4.1 percent.
