The government adopted on Monday a request by the Greek Orthodox Church to allow Easter services to be held behind closed doors without a congregation as of Palm Sunday on April 12.

The measure will be in place for one week, until April 20, which is the Orthodox Easter Monday.

According to the measures, all places of worship of all religions will be allowed to hold services behind closed doors during the Easter season.

The total number of those performing closed-door services cannot exceed four. Visits by the public to monasteries, which also can only perform services behind closed doors, is also prohibited.

Moreover, no services at all can be held in places of worship located in private estates, buildings etc, even behind closed doors.

In addition to TV and radio, independent internet streaming is also permitted.
