US Ambassador to Turkey visits Hagia Sophia

The US Ambassador to Turkey, David Satterfield, visited Hagia Sophia on Wednesday, for the first time after its reconversion to a mosque.

According to Turkish media, the ambassador was accompanied by Coskun Yilmaz, Istanbul's top culture and tourism official.

The visit came five days after hundreds of worshipers attended the first Muslim prayers in 86 years inside the UNESCO World Heritage monument.
