Reorganize the army
Making military service obligatory at the age of 18 in Greece could have benefits that go beyond the operation of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
But for the measure to make sense, the army itself must change.
It should be reorganized to welcome the new recruits and train them according to their skills, in a way that will make their service useful – and not be seen as a time for slacking off on the fringes of bureaucracy.
