Warning signal

Scientists and government officials had hoped to curb the coronavirus transmission rate in Greece before winter. 

That objective, it appears, has not been met. 

The fact that the spread of the pandemic has not been as aggressive here as in some other European countries must not be viewed as a cause for complacency.

In fact, it must be treated as a warning signal. It is no longer possible to play down the dangers.
