OPINION

Respecting public health

The government decision this year to cancel the celebrations and events that take place on all our annual anniversaries – March 25, October 28 and now November 17 – was not taken on political grounds, nor should it be allowed to be charged with arbitrary symbolism.

It is a decision dictated only by the protection of public health in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

And that alone must be fully respected.
