Cocaine traffickers nabbed in Athens

Greek authorities have arrested two Serbs in Athens suspected of being part of a group smuggling cocaine from Peru to Montenegro, sources revealed yesterday. Officers in Greece worked with their counterparts from the USA’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) over the last five months to track the illegal shipments, which arrived in Greece on luxury yachts. The two Serbs, aged 25 and 28, were arrested after an undercover Greek officer gave them two suitcases containing 20 kilos of cocaine, which had been shipped after undercover DEA agents pretending to own a company renting yachts had struck a deal with other gang members. Authorities believe that the suspects successfully completed the smuggling of at least one shipment of 150 kilos of cocaine earlier this year. Two more suspects, also Serbs, are being sought in their homeland.
