Ballet at the Athens Concert Hall and the National Opera

A series of classical ballet evenings featuring Greek and foreign soloists begins in Athens next week. Starting on Monday, the Athens Concert Hall welcomes acclaimed Russian dancer Vladimir Malakhov (with additional performances on January 21, 22 and 23). Deemed «The best dancer in the world» by Dance Magazine, Malakhov leads a stellar cast of soloists from the American Ballet Theater, the Stuttgart Ballet and the Berlin State Opera in a variety of choreographies and music, ranging from Balanchine to William Forsythe and Rossini and Mozart to Massenet. Dance takes the lead at the National Opera as well next week, with performances of Prokofiev’s «Romeo and Juliet,» interpreted by the National Opera Ballet. The choreography is by Rudi Van Dantzig, with the dance company’s soloists alternating in the principal roles. Additional performances on January 28 and 30, February 1, 13, 15, 27 and March 1 and 4.
