Mando selected to sing for Greece at this year’s Eurovision song contest

Greek songs come in many forms and styles. From opera with Agnes Baltsa, the spotlight turns on Mando, a singer with a lovely voice and stage presence, who usually appears at nightclubs and who has her own loyal following of fans. As a well-known and successful performer, it is to her credit that she competed with many other young aspiring singers for the honor of representing Greece in the Eurovision song contest. And she won, by a narrow margin, beating out Yiannis Vardis and Sabrina, in second and third place, with a Greek song with English lyrics «I’ll Never Let You Go,» which she will perform in Latvia on May 23. Mando’s stage presence (as long as she doesn’t wear that black evening gown again, which looks like a cake at a witches’ party) and her powerful, versatile voice are factors which could send her to first place, bringing the Eurovision contest back to Greece in 2004, along with the Olympic Games!
