Screenings in aid of arts center

In the last few years, the American Community Schools of Athens (ACS) and the «American-Hellenic Arts Center of Halandri» Association with honorary chair US Ambassador to Greece Thomas Miller have intensified their efforts to raise funds for the construction of an arts center on the ACS campus – charity events have included performances by Charlotte Church, and Roberto Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu, among others. Plans have now been finalized and the cultural and athletic complex’s construction is imminent, including a 520-seat state-of-the-art arts center for all types of cultural events. As part of the ongoing efforts to raise even more funds – the project’s total budget stands at 3 million euros – Alexandros Spentzos, owner of Spentzos Films, is offering revenues from special showings of 10 recent film releases. Screenings begin this Sunday, March 16 at noon, with Spike Jonze’s unconventional comedy «Adaptation,» starring Meryl Streep and Nicolas Cage. Tickets cost 7 euros and are available at the Ideal Cinema box office at 46 Panepistimiou Street, as well as from ACS, 129 Aghias Paraskevis and Kazantzaki, in Halandri.
