Eleftheria Arvanitaki to conclude Musical July

It’s singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki’s turn to close Musical July at the Little Theater of Ancient Epidaurus this year. A series of summer concerts previously organized by the Athens Concert Hall and currently part of the Hellenic Festival, Musical July is complemented by an agricultural feast which coincides with the festival, taking place at the port. Following performances by the Camerata Orchestra, piano soloist Alexandra Papastefanou and the Boston-based Alea III Ensemble, Arvanitaki takes over this weekend, giving the increasingly popular festival a Greek and world music spin. The singer is scheduled to perform songs from two critically acclaimed albums, namely the 1996 «Tragoudia yia tous Mines,» featuring poetry by Sappho, Odysseas Elytis, Maria Polydouri, Costas Karyotakis and Michalis Ganas, with music by Dimitris Papadimitriou as well as the 1994 «Ta Kormia kai ta Mahairia,» based on music by Ara Dinkjian and lyrics by Michalis Ganas and Lina Nikolakopoulou. By boat For those wishing to attend this weekend’s events, one option is to travel by cruise ship.
