TV series; launches

There’s a treat for booklovers on state channel ERT on Friday nights at 9 p.m. in a rerun of «Eras and Writers.» The successful series about the life and work of leading Greek writers includes a prize-winning documentary about Andreas Embiricos. Biographical details are presented simply and actors read excerpts from the works. The series is based on a wealth of archival material and was filmed in places related to the writers. Tomorrow’s episode is a tribute to M. Karagatsis, edited by Tassos Goudelis and directed by Tassos Psarras. Books launched Two book launches are of particular interest on Monday, October 21. The Center for the Greek Language (CGL) is presenting Dimitris Daskalopoulos’s «Bibliography of C.P. Cavafy (1886-2000)» at the Benaki Museum (1 Koumbari) at 12 noon. CGL President Dimitris Fatouros, Professor Dimitris Maronitis, Professor Diana Haas and the author will speak. Later the same day, PASOK deputy Theodoros Pangalos and criminologist Aristidis Economidis will speak at the launching of Vassilis Tzanakaris’s book «The Comrades Kill the Tough Guys,» published by Kastaniotis.
