Milka Mesic praises Elpida charity’s work

When Croatian President Stipe Mesic made an official visit to Athens, his wife Milka requested the itinerary include a visit to the Elpida hostel in Goudi, which offers accommodation to the parents of children who are undergoing bone marrow transplants at the nearby Aghia Sophia Hospital, and where the young patients themselves convalesce afterward. Marianna Vardinoyianni, president of the Elpida Association of Friends of Children with Cancer, and the board of directors welcomed Milka Mesic, who had high praise for the hostel’s infrastructure and organization and the work of the association which, she said, «was known throughout Europe.» Elpida is organizing a special event to mark the 10th anniversary of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, in honor of all those who have supported the children and Elpida’s mission on Monday, November 24, at 7.30 p.m. at the Athens Concert Hall (Friends of Music Hall). President Costis Stephanopoulos will honor the event with his presence.
