A focus on kids at the Athinais this weekend

Kids are in the spotlight at the Athinais center as the Second Film Festival sponsored by pharmaceutical company Janssen-Cilag kicks off. Starting this evening and running to Sunday, the multipurpose complex will be hosting a discussion on children’s mental health, screenings of films with themes related to children selected by film critic Dimitris Danikas, and other related events such as clown shows and Christmas decoration workshops. The program of events is as follows: FRIDAY 5-6.20 p.m.: «Elephant» by Gus Van Sant (2003, USA, 81′) – 2003 Cannes Film Festival, Best Director, Palme d’Or. 6.45-8.15 p.m.: Open discussion on «Violent Behavior & Violence in Adolescence.» 8.30-9.45 p.m.: «Mother and Son» by Aleksandr Sokurov (1997, Germany/ Russia, 73′) – Greek premiere. 10-11.30 p.m.: «Father and Son» by Aleksandr Sokurov (2003, Germany/ Russia / Italy / Netherlands, 83′) – Greek premiere.
