Women in the service of peace gather for Paris conference

At the initiative of Egypt’s First Lady Suzanne Mubarak and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyianni, an international conference was held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris titled «Women in the Service of Peace.» Vardinoyianni emphasized the importance of the conference as a bridge between the first Middle East Women’s Movement for Peace and the international community and added that «no one can afford the luxury of remaining indifferent.» Members of the board of the «Suzanne Mubarak Peace Movement» founded in 2003 with its headquarters in Zurich, are Queen Shaikha Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, Princess Basma of Jordan, Mouna Haraoui, the wife of the former Lebanese president, former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Alexandria Library President Dr Ismail Serageldin, Dr Leila Takla and from Greece, Marianna Vardinoyianni.
