From fado to flamenco, Giorgos Dalaras goes on a Mediterranean musical journey

Popular singer Giorgos Dalaras will take audiences on a musical journey across the Mediterranean Sea on August 2 and 3. From fado to flamenco and rembetika to ballads, the region’s music comes together in «30th-40th Latitude.» The performances at the Herod Atticus Theater are part of this year’s Athens Festival. Alongside Dalaras will be Portugal’s Dulce Pontes, accompanied by singer/ composer Stefanos Korkolis, Italian crooner Eddy Napoli, Palestinian-Bulgarian Mira Anwar Awad and the «Prince of Rai,» Algerian Cheb Mami. Also on stage will be Macarena Giraldez Losada, linking Mediterranean cultures through dance; the Compania Flamenca, featuring Marco Jimenez and the Fons Musicalis choir led by Costis Constandaras. The production is directed by Panos Papadopoulos, with lighting by Dimitris Papadopoulos and Panos Papadopoulos, and arrangements by Costas Ganosselis. Tickets can be purchased at the Hellenic Festival Box Office (39 Panepistimiou, tel 210.928.2900) and the Herod Atticus Theater Box Office.
