Aris Berlis elected to post of director at EKEMEL; classics courses in Delphi

Aris Berlis is the new director of the European Translation Center (EKEMEL). He was elected to the post by the board of directors following the appointment of the former director Catherine Velissaris as director of the National Book Center (EKEBI). A translator and literary critic, Berlis has been with EKEMEL since its inception as head of the Department of English. Ancient Greek at Delphi The European Cultural Center of Delphi (ECCD) is continuing its seminars on Ancient Greek language and culture for the 10th consecutive year. This year, the seminar, which runs till July 31, is being offered to high school teachers from France, and will be taught by teachers from the universities of Athens, Crete, Thessaloniki, the Sorbonne and Provence. ECCD runs the courses – for 50 participants from a different country each year – in an attempt to counter the decline in classical studies. The seminar includes lessons in Ancient Greek with the help of computers.
