Dimitris Papaioannou’s anxiety and joy

Ecstatic by the Olympic Stadium’s new arrangement and «intoxicated,» as he puts it, by the sensational and daily collaboration with the thousands of volunteers participating in the opening ceremony (where stars will undoubtedly participate too), Dimitris Papaioannou does not hesitate when asked about the Sunday Mirror’s leak: «Nothing has been ruined, the surprise is still there,» he says. Only a few days are left before the grand moment of the opening, and preparation fever has now reached peak levels at the Olympic Stadium. So has Papaioannou’s anxiety, coupled with his joy and enthusiasm. Naturally, he would have liked to have had more time at his disposal for rehearsing in the stadium; one way or another, however, «there is never enough time,» he says. Despite endless night and day hours, Papaioannou found a bit of time to answer a few of our questions. Along with his answers, printed below are a number of other interesting answers posted on the Athens 2004 website, to a series of questions asked directly of the site’s visitors, concerning certain aspects of the opening and closing ceremonies.
