Nakas calls upon aspiring stars
Aspiring young musicians are being called to the test by the Philippos Nakas Conservatory again this year for the Second Pop & Rock Festival/Contest. The festival, which was first held last year and attracted numerous participants, offers an opportunity for young pop, rock, jazz, fusion, funk, Latin, hip-hop, rap, rhythm ‘n’ blues and electronic musicians to show off their skills from December 7-11 at the respected conservatory’s concert hall to a panel of judges and an audience. The entrants automatically enter a competition for the following: One contract with V2 Records awarded for original composition, a professional CD production deal by the SAE Private College Workshop (for two bands) and presentations / promotional coverage from Mad radio and the magazines «Rock and Roll» and «Pop and Rock.» Furthermore, all acts that appear in the festival/contest will receive special price deals from the conservatory’s music store, all the live performances will be recorded on CD and three original compositions will be selected to feature in a compilation CD that is to be distributed as a complimentary gift to readers of the two magazines. In order to participate in the Second Pop & Rock Festival/Contest, interested parties should send a demo (CD) with two to three tracks (either original compositions or covers from the Greek and international repertoire) of no more than 10 minutes’ duration by November 15 at the latest.
