From 6 to 36, it has been an upward spiral

Born Javier Angel Encinas Bardem in the Canary Islands in 1969, the actor belongs to a family of entertainers, while his own career began at the age of 6. During his adolescence, he acted in various television series and was part of the National Teen Rugby Team. In 1992, Bardem took on his first feature film role in «Jamon, Jamon,» embarking on a successful career featuring pictures such as Julian Schnabel’s «Before Night Falls,» in which he played the role of Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas, and John Malkovich’s «The Dancer Upstairs.» While «The Sea Inside» won Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this week, as well as three awards at the Venice International Film Festival, Bardem is already working on and planning his next projects. These include taking the role of Pablo Escobar in «Killing Pablo,» a film based on a book by Mark Bowden narrating the drug lord’s final days leading up to his assassination. Also coming up is an appearance alongside Sean Penn in «The Last Face,» the story of two doctors working in war-torn Africa, as well as a role in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming «Che,» an epic on the life of Che Guevara featuring Benicio Del Toro in the title role.
