Three female singers target breast cancer
Battling breast cancer is the purpose of a concert at the Herod Atticus Theater on Friday at 8.30 p.m. as three leading ladies of Greek song – Evanthia Reboutsika, Elli Paspala and Natassa Theodoriou – join forces in a charity event aimed at raising revenue for the purchase of a portable mammography unit with which health authorities will be able to give women free checkups. The concert, organized by the Hellenic Cancer Society under the auspices of the Greek Parliament and sponsored by the Evrika detergent company, features songs composed by Reboutsika, who will be appearing for the first time in her distinguished career at the Roman odeon. Songs include popular tunes and tracks from Lydia Carras’s film «Voices of the Aegean» and from Tassos Boulmetis’s award-winning «A Touch of Spice» – which Theodoridou will present live for the first time. The singers will be accompanied by a 20-member orchestra. Tickets for the event cost 120 (Distinguished Zone), 80 (Zone A), 60 (Zone B), 40 (Zone C) and 30 (Upper Tier) euros. They can be purchased from the Hellenic Festival box office on 39 Panepistimiou (tel 210.928.2000), from Metropolis music stores and from the theater itself (only on the day of the performance).
