Floorfiller shines with the ‘King of Tech-House’

One of the country’s more active promoters of dance events, Floorfiller Productions, whose chief, Petros Floorfiller, is an established DJ himself, has booked a premier act, Seb Fontaine – the resident DJ at one of the international dance community’s hotspots, the Cream club in Liverpool as well as Ibiza – as its next major guest this season. Back in Athens after a long absence, Fontaine, also a radio producer, remixer and label boss, who has been dubbed «King of Tech-House» by club-scene insiders, will be spinning discs at the capital’s +Soda club late this Friday night. The sibling of a mother DJ who spun discs herself in Ibiza over three decades ago, Fontaine has maintained the family tradition. His major break came when he was given a residency slot at London’s Ministry of Sound venue. Recently, he launched Global Underground Prototype, a series of sessions through which Fontaine explored new territories in a variety of dance music categories. Reflecting the attention this project had attracted, an up-to-date publication, «Muzik,» devoted a cover story on him in which Fontaine was described as the DJ for the new millennium. Besides the club scene, Fontaine has also worked extensively in radio. After spending two years producing a peak-time show on one of London’s most popular stations, Kiss FM, Fontaine switched to BBC’s Radio 1 early last year for weekly Saturday night shows.
