Exhibit, new titles, talk

Book lovers will be spoilt for choice next Wednesday, with several events on the same day. Kedros Publishers and the Benaki Museum are holding events in memory of the writer Giorgos Ioannou on the 20th anniversary of his death. Panayiotis Moullas, Giorgos Skambardonis and Costis Gimosoulis will present «Me ton Rithmo tis Psychis» («At the Pace of the Soul»), a collection of texts about Ioannou by 29 writers on Wednesday, March 8 at 8 p.m. After the launch is the opening of an exhibition of paintings by 32 artists, inspired by Ioannou’s work. Kentro Dierhomenon will play music with lyrics by Ioannou. (At the Benaki Museum, 138 Pireos.) Kastaniotis Publishers is launching former national economy minister Yiannos Papantoniou’s latest book, «To Epomeno Vima» («The Next Step»), next Wednesday, March 8, at 1 p.m. Among the speakers are Mimis Androulakis, Evangelos Venizelos, Andreas Loverdos and Yiannis Pretenderis. (At the Theodoros Karatzas Amphitheater, National Bank of Greece, 82-84 Aeolou.) Journalism That evening at 7.30 p.m., Panteion University’s Department of Communication, Media and Culture and Kastaniotis are holding a public discussion with American author and journalist Bill Kovach on traditional journalism and the challenge of the new media at the National Hellenic Research Foundation (48 Vas. Constantinou Avenue). Kovach is the co-author with Tom Rosenstiel of «Elements of Journalism: What Newspeople Should Know and the Public Should Expect.» The speakers are Stelios Papathanassopoulos, Nikos Leandros and Dimitris Mitropoulos. Nikos Bakounakis will moderate. There will be simultaneous translation.
