Workshop deadline due
Registrations close May 22 for this summer’s Aegean Arts Circle writing workshops on Andros. Athens-based writer Nick Papandreou will lead the first workshop, June 26-29, exploring how acclaimed writing works and how a close reading of fine writing can feed into their own pieces. The workshop will operate both as a group and one-on-one for daily feedback and discussion of different writing techniques. Short stories, memoir, novels in progress, and creative non-fiction are welcome. Chicago poet/writer Beatriz Badikian Gartler leads the second workshop, July 1-3, an intensive for beginning writers who will draw from their personal experiences as well for more advanced writers who have work-in-progress. Each session begins with jump-start exercises and continues with the critique of participants’ writing. Examples of published pieces will be discussed to offer participants’ models to consider and facilitate discussion of genre conventions, style and tone. All genres are welcome. New York writer/poet June Gould leads the third workshop, July 8-15, for novelists, poets, short-story or memoir writers who need help getting into publishable form, or would like to generate new writing. Writers with manuscripts, writers who want to start new work and aspiring writers will be considered for the workshops. For more information go to www.aegeanartscircle.com
