Tribute to Greek director

One of the most prolific film directors of recent years in Greece, with one feature film almost every year since the late 1990s, Nikos Panagiotopoulos is the subject of a tribute at France’s La Rochelle International Film Festival, which runs until tomorrow. The tribute comprises six films by the Greek director: the 2004 drama «Delivery,» which was nominated for a Golden Lion at Venice and received the FIPRESCI critics’ prize in Thessaloniki; «I’m Tired of Killing Your Lovers,» another drama, from 2002; «Dreaming of My Friends» (1992); «The Slothful Ones of the Fertile Valley,» a 1978 drama that received a Golden leopard at Locarno; «Melodrama?» (1980); and «The Colors of the Rainbow» (1974). Panagiotopoulos traveled to France to present his films and hold open discussions with the audience, while he has also just recently completed the filming of his latest feature, «Dying in Athens.» The musical drama, which is scheduled to hit the screens at mainstream film theaters in Greece this fall, features music by Stamatis Kraounakis and stars Spyros Papadopoulos, Maria Nafpliotou, Maria Solomou, Stathis Livathinos and Faye Xyla.
