Special Mickey Mouse edition

The Mickey Mouse comic book is celebrating its 40th anniversary of circulation in Greece with a super-sized, 548-page special edition that hit book shops last week. As well as marking its important anniversary, the publication also wins the world record for the biggest comic book to go into print. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck and the rest of the delightful cast of Walt Disney’s successful series which has been entertaining children in Greece for four decades are all put on parade in this special edition. The Mickey Mouse comic, one of the few regular publications for children, first went into circulation in Greece on July 1, 1966. The cover showed Mickey Mouse holding a suitcase and setting off for a holiday to Greece. Now, 40 years later, Mickey is still here and he’s here to stay, drawing children into his crazy adventures and sheltering them from the violence that is now the norm in children’s entertainment.
