Proskinio’s nights with Shakespeare

What do the love-struck Juliet, entrapped Desdemona and murderous Lady Macbeth have in common? In this summer’s production of «A Night with Shakespeare» by the Proskinio Theater, scenes from five of the bard’s greatest plays are woven together to create a romantic tangle that is unraveled by the two sprites Ariel and Puck. The production, which has already toured Greece, has now arrived in Athens for a series of performances. The stage direction and sets are by Antonis Kalogridis, who also designed the costumes along with Erifilli Nikolopoulou. The music is by Theodoros Economou, while the choreography is by Haris Mantafounis. The talented cast includes Karyofillia Karambeti, Pemi Zoumi, Chryssa Ropa, Stelios Mainas, Ieronymos Kaletsanos, Dimitris Agartzidis, Natasa Kalogridi, Yiannis Sideras and Danae Skiadi. This Saturday (September 2) «A Night with Shakespeare» will be performed at the Culture and Sports Center of Nea Makri. The remainder of the Athens performances are at the Veakeio Theater in Piraeus (6/9), Alsos Veikou, Galatsi (7/9), the Aliki Vouyiouklaki Theater, Vrilissia (8/9), Aixonis Theater, Glyfada (9/9), Kifissia (12/9), and the open-air theater in Ilioupolis (13/9).
