Dalaras tour ends in Piraeus

George Dalaras’s summer tour around Greece is coming to an end with a final concert tonight. The tour began in late August in Kelli, a far-off village in Florina, northwestern Greece, but also included Karpathos at the other end of the country. The popular vocalist is presenting «Erima Horia» (Deserted Villages), his latest work, which features compositions by Dasho Kurti with lyrics by Ilias Katsoulis, Agathi Dimitrouka, Smaro Papadopoulou and Lizeta Kalimeri. His tour included numerous parts of Greece, with an emphasis on the more remote regions. Following his recent performance at the municipal stadium of Aspropyrgos, Dalaras is scheduled to perform at the Katrakeio Theater in Nikaia, Piraeus, tonight. Dalaras is accompanied by two singers who have earned special status on the Greek singing scene the past few years: They are Melina Aslanidou and Despina Olympiou, while soloist Michalis Tzouganakis unites the Cretan musical tradition with Mediterranean melodies. Apart from extracts from his latest album, Dalaras’s program also includes songs from all over the Mediterranean as well as many of the popular Greek singer’s older hits, ranging from rebetika to entechno and modern ballads. The artist is also joined by 14 musicians, 18 stage technicians and others.
