ZOI TIGANOURIA

‘Tanguera’ She fell in love with her homeland’s musical heritage listening to her construction worker-violinist father playing for hours on end on the island of Samothrace, where she was raised. So, when Zoi Tiganouria graduated from high school, she decided to relocate to Athens to focus on musical studies. But, unlike her violinist father, Tiganouria’s heart and soul opted for the accordion. In recent years, the artist has worked – both on stage and in the studio – with some of the country’s more significant acts, such as Nikos Papazoglou, Manolis Lidakis, George Dalaras, Dimitra Galani and Marinella, while also showing glimpses of her songwriting talent. On this CD, Tiganouria dabbles with older material, imported and domestic, by the likes of Carlos Gardel, Richard Galliano, Astor Piazzolla, Vassilis Tsitsanis, Stamatis Kraounakis, as well as Greek folk music. It deserves your attention.
