Painter Yiannis Psychopedis, poet Kiki Dimoula combine images and words

Artist Yiannis Psychopedis and poet Kiki Dimoula are offering an encounter of the arts next month at the Zoumboulakis Gallery. Starting March 8, 73 new works by Psychopedis and inspired by the poetry of Dimoula will be on show. All of them were painted between August and December last year. On the same day, Ikaros will publish «Yiannis Psychopedis synantisi Kiki Dimoula,» which contains both the poems that inspired the paintings and a new one, «Sou tahydromisa ena votsalo xtes» (I Posted You a Pebble Yesterday), which was written for this encounter. «In difficult times, poetry is a necessary household appliance for the basic necessities. It’s an aid for those who need courage, company and support,» writes Psychopedis in the prologue. And he goes on to explain how painting and poetry run in parallel, and when they meet, «almost by stealth, they name and validate their differences.» In her poem, addressed to the painter, the poet asks him to paint the pebble she has posted. The book will be launched at 12.30 p.m. on March 8 at the Zoumboulakis Gallery (20 Kolonaki Square). The exhibition opens that evening and runs to April 5.
