UNESCO meeting

UNESCO goodwill ambassadors held their annual meeting in Paris, the organization’s headquarters, on April 3. In his opening address, UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura spoke about projects for this year, including initiatives to wipe out illiteracy and to promote sustainable development with an emphasis on climate change and saving water resources. Queen Rania of Jordan visited UNESCO during the conference and signed a cooperation agreement between the Jordan River Foundation and UNESCO on establishing joint projects in child protection, literacy, teacher training, formal and non-formal education and children’s rights.
