Silver medal for Greek author

Niki Mitarea’s book «Oinomageiremata» (Cooking with Wine), reviewed here on February 2, 2006, has just won a silver medal at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2006. Her book won a distinction in the Best Book on Cooking with Wine category. The author received her award from Edouard Cointreau at a special ceremony on April 7 in Beijing. About 24,000 books related to food and wine were considered for the highly regarded awards, now in their 12th year. Mitarea is a journalist with a special interest in wine and food. «Oinomageiremata,» published by Ellinika Grammata, is her first book. In it she explains everything the beginner needs to know about wine, and supplies 80 recipes in which wine is one of the ingredients.
