Nicholas Burns coming to celebrate Marshall Plan’s 60th anniversary; Al Gore to give lecture

Nicholas Burns, the US undersecretary of state for political affairs and a former US ambassador to Greece, arrives in Athens this week to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Marshall Plan. On Tuesday, June 12, Burns will visit the American Community School Art Center, of which he is a former honorary president, a post filled now by the outgoing ambassador, Charles Ries. His visit to Athens will be followed by that of Al Gore, the former US vice president and the author of the film «An Inconvenient Truth,» which was recently shown at the Angelos Goulandris Amphitheater at the GAIA Center. Gore will be giving a lecture on Wednesday, June 13, in the Alexandra Triandi Hall at the Athens Concert Hall as part of the Megaron Plus series to coincide with Ecoweek 2007. Entry is open to the public. Earlier the same day, he will be giving a press conference in the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall.
