Mouzala to play piano on Samos
Elena Mouzala will be giving a recital of works by both Greek and international composers at the Municipal Hall on the island of Samos tomorrow at 9 p.m. The acclaimed pianist, who also serves as the artistic director of the Manolis Kalomiris Festival held annually on the eastern Aegean island and now in its 11th year, will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis and Kalomiris. Mouzala’s skill and diversity as a concert pianist has met with critical acclaim. As a soloist, she has performed with a number of well-known orchestras, including the Paris Radio Philharmonic, the Brussels Symphony, the Cannes Symphony, the Budapest Philharmonic and the Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra. The pianist has also recorded with radio and television orchestras in France, Belgium, Canada, Greece and Cyprus, while she has taught piano since 2004 at the University of the Ionian’s Department of Music on Corfu and serves as a permanent member on the board of the Ionian technical colleges (TEI), elected by the Ministry of Education. She is also the president of the alumni association of the National Conservatory.
