Art at HAU inspired by little events around us

Different aspects of daily life that go mostly unnoticed except by the observant eye of the artist is the subject of an exhibition currently on display at the Hellenic American Union (22 Massalias, Kolonaki). Titled «Everyday Stories,» the show brings together the work of 16 artists. Curated by Artemis Potamianou, the show is part of the HAU’s drive to introduce a wide audience to the work of young European artists and comes as a continuation of previous shows «Lost in Translation» and «Black and White.» Inspired by the small occurrences of daily life, the artists have steered away from a descriptive, linear illustration of their subjects, using a variety of media, from photography and painting to installation and video art, to put a new twist on mundane themes. These everyday stories constitute a commentary on daily life, shedding light on interpersonal relationships and the psychology of the individual. The artists are: Ana Laura Alaez, b., Yiannis Grigoriadis, Juan Zamora, Zilla Leutenegger, Ivan Moudov, Clement Page, Leta Peer, Dan Perjovschi, Vassilis Polychronakis, Artemis Potamianou, Werner Reiterer, Thomson & Craighead, Rui Toscano, Vadim Fiskin and Nikos Haralambidis. The show ends on Saturday. The exhibition is open until tomorrow from noon – 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10.30 a.m. – 2.30 p.m.
