A debut by the London Community Gospel Choir

In its first ever visit to Greece, the London Community Gospel Choir will perform at the Pallas Theater in Athens next week, on November 19 and 20. Reverend Bazil Meade, the choir’s founder and artistic director, promises a powerful program full of strong feelings that will excite but also move the Greek public. Meade has described music as an international language through which one can communicate with the entire world, adding that he considers himself lucky to be able to sing and create music. The London Community Gospel Choir, Britain’s first concert gospel choir, was founded 25 years ago and today has more than 200 members. So far, the orchestra has worked with a large number of acclaimed artists, including Madonna, Diana Ross, Sarah Brightman, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, George Michael, Simply Red, Sir Paul McCartney and many others. It has received awards at the BBC Music Gospel Awards and the DMI Awards, among others. The vocal ensemble has released eight albums and three singles and has performed in various concert halls around the world, while participating in movie soundtracks such as «The Lion King» (in collaboration with Sir Elton John), «Love Actually» and «Fighting Temptations.» The Athens program will feature both classic and modern gospels, complemented by choreographies designed to create an atmosphere of celebration.
