Meet Victoria Hislop, author of ‘The Island’

Victoria Hislop, author of best-selling novel «The Island,» will meet the public tonight in Thessaloniki and tomorrow in Athens. Translated into 25 languages, including Greek, «The Island» has sold more than a million copies and won Hislop the Best Newcomer award at the 2007 British Book Awards. The story is set on the island of Spinalonga, off the coast of Crete. When Alexis Fielding seeks the truth about her mother’s past in Crete, she uncovers the story of a family torn apart by tragedy, war and passion. She discovers how closely she is connected with the island and the leper colony that was once there, and learns that the secrets of the past have the power to change the future.
