‘Home/Land’ symposium

The theme of «Home/ Land» will be explored at the New Symposium at the House of Literature on Paros (May 15-20). Fifteen writers will share their views, to be published later in electronic form. The symposium, held for the third consecutive year at Lefkes on Paros, is a joint effort by the Fulbright Foundation in Greece, Paros Municipality, the European Translation Center (EKEMEL) and the International Writing Program (IWP) of Iowa University. The directors are IWP director and poet Christopher Merrill and Artemis Zenetou, managing director of the Fulbright Foundation in Greece. This year’s participants are fiction writer Amma Darko (from Ghana); essayist, poet and editor Nirwan Dewanto (Indonesia); poet Jennifer Dobbs (US); poet, essayist and novelist Deb Marquart (US); poet and fiction writer Kei Miller (Jamaica); novelist, fiction writer and essayist Kavery Nambisan (India); poet Eilean Ni Chuilleanain (Ireland); poet, novelist, fiction writer and essayist Nick Papandreou (Greece); poet David St John (US); poet Leanna Sakelliou (Greece); scholar, translator, poet and essayist Stephanos Stephanides (Cyprus); poet Natasha Trethewey (US); poet, essayist, journalist and translator Anastasis Vistonitis (Greece); poet and translator Macdara Woods (Ireland); and poet Xi Chuan (China).
