Song, theater and climate issues at Vyronas Festival

The Vrachon Theater is once more promising pleasant summer evenings filled with song and theater, coupled with messages about environmental awareness. The Polis Cafe above the Stoa tou Vivliou was buzzing recently, as artists, journalists and representatives of the Municipality of Vyronas gathered to celebrate the presentation of this year’s festival program. The 21st Vyronas Festival is dedicated to the environment and proceeds will go to a fire-stricken village in Ileia. The event will also host stands by Greenpeace, the Hymettus Association for Protection and Development, Mesogeios and Anima, which will provide information about their actions and aims. This year’s rich and varied program ranges from Mexican singer Lila Downs to local rock act Matisse and George Dalaras, who will open the event on June 2. Composer Stamatis Kraounakis and the Speira-Speira music group will also perform – and the composer wrote the jingle for the festival as well. For information, log on to www.festivalbyrona.gr.
