Paris, a longtime city-muse

Paris may no longer enjoy the reputation of the most significant metropolis for modern art that it did in the early part of the 20th century, but it is still a city with an important artistic scene and the city where artists from all over the world have come to study or chosen to live. «Paris Peinture,» an exhibition that opens tomorrow at the Theocharakis Foundation for the Visual Arts, is an elegant exhibition that includes works by 22 established international artists who have spent a significant part of their careers in the French metropolis. The Argentinean Antonio Segui, the Italian Leonardo Cremonini, Eduardo Arroyo from Spain and Serbian Vladimir Velikovic are among them. Alekos Fassianos is the only Greek artist included in the exhibition. The paintings are all large and presented alongside a large text on the work and the artist. The same format has been used for the exhibition’s well-designed catalog. Photographs of the artists taken by Didier Ben Loulou are also juxtaposed next to the paintings. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the French Institute in Athens and is curated by Caroline Fourgeaud-Laville, the cultural attache of the French Embassy in Athens. «Paris Peinture,» at the Theocharakis Foundation for the Visual Arts and Music (9 Vassilissis Sofias & 1 Merlin, 210.361.1206), to November 2.
